Join our Introductory Wheel Throwing Pottery Course at Social Pottery MK starting January 7th! This hands-on 6-week course is designed for beginners and pottery enthusiasts who want to master the fundamentals of wheel throwing while creating their own unique ceramic pieces.
Course Outline
- Week 1 (January 7th): Learn to prepare clay, throw a pot on the wheel, and master the basics of centering, opening, and pulling up the walls of your pot. Plenty of practice time included!
- Week 2 (January 14th): Practice centering and create basic cylinders, the foundation for a variety of pottery shapes.
- Week 3 (January 21st): Trim (turn) your pots using a range of tools to refine and tidy up your creations.
- Week 4 (January 28th): Apply your skills to independent projects, experimenting with different shapes and techniques.
- Week 5 (February 4th): Focus on refining your pots, trimming, and adding handles to create functional pieces.
- Week 6 (February 11th): Glaze your pieces to complete them with a beautiful finish. Your creations will be fired and ready for collection two weeks later.
