Studio Assistant – Pottery Experience Facilitator

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Act as the host for the day, representing the company.
  • Welcome customers and create a friendly, inviting atmosphere in the studio.
  • Provide information about classes, services, and products.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage social media inquiries.
  • Assist in merchandising and display of retail items.
  • Facilitate the overall pottery experience for visitors, guiding them through the process from selection to painting.
  • Provide basic instruction and tips on pottery painting techniques, ensuring a satisfying creative experience for customers of all skill levels.
  • Assist in handling bookings, registrations, and payments.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized studio environment, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors.

Studio Operations

  • Maintain studio equipment in good operating order, including weekly and monthly maintenance.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized studio environment, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors.
  • Operate all equipment safely and adhere to proper handling of all products in the studio according to company standards.
  • Follow all Health and Safety procedures and standards.
  • Maintain and mix studio paints, glazes, and slips.
  • Assist the Studio Manager with inventory and restocking supplies.
  • Provide technical support to users and staff to ensure equipment is used properly and safely.

Administrative Support

  • Address customer inquiries and provide information on studio offerings, class schedules, and events.
  • Handle bookings, payments, and manage the register platform.
  • Participate in marketing activities, create and share product ideas, advise on new service ideas, and actively contribute to business development and innovation.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support to the business manager and other senior staff members. This may include content writing, support with marketing materials, taking pictures of new or existing products, proofreading, and other administrative tasks related to business development.
  • Support newly starting colleagues in onboarding and day-to-day training; provide feedback to the line manager.
  • Communicate regularly with the Studio Manager about any problems or recommendations regarding equipment and facilities that may affect the safe operation of the studio.
  • Maintain maintenance and safety logs for the studio equipment.
  • Ensure the safety of all users while in the studio and document all accidents and incidents immediately.

Team Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with other team members, including instructors, kiln operators, and administrative staff, to ensure cohesive and efficient studio operations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving the customer experience and studio operations.
  • Assist in setting up for classes, workshops, and special events.
  • Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm in supporting the business and other staff members on all administrative and operational tasks.
