Junior Pottery Teacher

We are looking for a PART-TIME Junior Pottery Teacher / Teaching Assistant to support our classes and the day-to-day running of our studio space. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about ceramics and looking to develop their teaching skills and experience. Experience with ceramics is required, particularly an understanding of both wheel throwing and hand building. Comprehensive training and support will be provided. A positive attitude, a welcoming smile, a practical mindset, and a hands-on approach are essential. You’ll be working directly with customers, helping them feel comfortable and confident while they learn, create, and enjoy their time in the studio. The role is varied and hands-on. You’ll support the lead teacher during classes, help customers with their projects, assist with demonstrations and practical tasks and develop your confidence in teaching and leading sessions. You’ll also get involved in the everyday running of the studio – from admin tasks such as emails and phone calls, to preparing clay and glazes, kiln operations, cleaning and maintaining the studio, and helping with the many unexpected jobs that come with running a busy pottery studio!

● Be locally based (within approximately 1 hour of the studio)

● Have flexibility in your working schedule

● Be available for weekday classes and at least one day over the weekend

● Have experience with both wheel-throwing and hand-building

● Be confident and comfortable interacting with customers

● Be professional, patient, energetic, friendly and kind

● Be reliable and willing to learn

● Be happy getting involved in all aspects of studio life

Full training will be provided on our studio-specific practices, teaching methods and customer experience. You’ll also have the freedom to bring your own personality, creativity and passion for ceramics to the role as you develop.
