Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 October 2026
These terms apply when you book a session, class, course, event, membership or collection slot with Social Pottery, buy a gift card, or come to one of our studios. Please read them before you book. Our Cancellation Policy, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy form part of them. Use of the website itself is covered by our Terms and Conditions.
Who we are
Social Pottery is run by Social Pottery Painting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 10950533. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Social Pottery Painting Ltd, and "you" means the person making the booking or purchase.
Our Balham studio is run by a franchise partner. Memberships, passes and class cards at Studio 221 in Camden are sold through bsport under the name Social Pottery Camden Ltd.
How booking works
- Bookings are made through the booking systems that open from our website: SevenRooms for pottery painting sessions, our ticket shop at tickets.socialpottery.com for classes, courses, events and collection slots, ClassBento for some workshops, and bsport for Studio 221 memberships. Gift cards are sold through Gift Up. These providers may ask you to accept their own terms for using their service.
- Your booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation from the booking system. Please check the date, time, studio and number of guests, and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.
- Each ticket covers one person, so book a place for every guest.
- Our painting studios take walk-ins, subject to space. Wheel and hand-building sessions run with a tutor and must be booked.
- Private, corporate and group events are booked through our enquiry forms. We confirm the details and price in a quote, and the terms in that quote apply alongside these.
Prices and payment
- Prices vary by studio and session. The current price is shown on the studio page, the session page and at booking, and the price shown when you book is the price you pay.
- For pottery painting you pay for the piece you choose, plus a deposit or studio fee that reserves your seat. How the deposit or studio fee is applied is shown at booking.
- You pay online or over the phone when you book. Anything you add on the day, such as an extra piece or an upgrade, is paid by card in the studio.
- Discounts we offer are shown on our website, with the conditions that apply to them.
Changes, cancellations and refunds
How to change or cancel a booking, the notice you need to give, what happens if you cannot come, and when we give refunds are set out in our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy. If we have to cancel or move a session, we will offer you a full refund or a new date.
Gift cards
Gift card validity, balances and refunds are covered on our Gift Cards page and in our Cancellation Policy.
At the studio
Children
- Daytime sessions have no age limit, but children must be accompanied by an adult, who is responsible for them throughout the session.
- The pottery wheel is suitable for ages 10 and up.
- Where a session page says an accompanying adult needs their own ticket, they must book one.
- Evening and BYOB sessions are adult-focused: guests aged 18 and over are welcome on their own, and guests aged 13 to 17 may attend with a guardian.
Bring your own drinks
- You may bring your own drinks to Sip & Paint and late-night sessions. Daytime sessions are alcohol-free.
- Drinks must be in cans, with a maximum of two per person, and only guests aged 18 and over may drink.
- Please drink responsibly. We may ask anyone whose behaviour affects the safety or enjoyment of other guests or our team to leave.
Food, parties and pets
- Snacks are fine at painting sessions. For health and safety, no food in hand-building sessions.
- For children's parties you can bring your own cake, snacks and drinks. Helium balloons are welcome, but no wall decorations, confetti or glitter.
- Our studios are pet-friendly. If you are unsure whether a particular session suits your pet, contact the studio before you book.
Care in the studio
- Please follow the instructions of our team, especially around the wheels, tools and kilns.
- Aprons are provided, and the underglazes wash off hands and most clothes, but clay can mark clothing, so wear something you do not mind getting messy.
- Please treat the studio, its equipment and other guests' work with care.
Photographs
We may take photographs of you and your work for use in our promotions. If you do not want pictures of you or your work to appear on our website or in any of our publications, please tell us in writing before your session or event and we will not take them.
Your pottery
- We glaze and fire your pieces after your session. When they are ready and how long you have to collect them are set out in our Cancellation Policy and on our collections page, which also explain what happens if a piece breaks or is lost.
- Fired pieces are food-safe. Terracotta (the brown pieces) is the tougher, more heat-resistant clay. Earthenware (the white pieces) is softer: you can serve hot food in it, but keep it out of the microwave, oven and dishwasher.
- Air-dry clay and acrylic-painted pieces are decorative and not food-safe.
Our responsibility to you
- We will provide our sessions with reasonable care and skill, as described on our website and in your booking.
- If we break these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- If you book as a business, we are not liable to you for loss of profit, loss of business or loss of opportunity, and the rest of this section still applies.
General
- We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you book apply to that booking.
- If a court decides that any part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays in force.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
